Sabic and Aramco Merger
Some of the biggest news from this month includes the merger of Saudi Aramco agreeing to buy a 70% stake in Saudi Basic Industries Corp., (SABIC). This will see the world’s largest Oil Company and Petrochemical Company merge. This acquisition is estimated to be at a value of $69.1 billion. There are of course the usual discovery phases to come, but both parties agree there will be exciting synergies to come from this union.
Vattenfall-led consortium plans 50 MW power-to-gas project in Germany
The energy company plans to build the “HySynGas” project in the Brunsbüttel Industrial Park with ARGE Netz and MAN Energy Solutions. The consortium wants to establish a power-to-gas hub for cross-sector decarbonization in northern Germany.
ARGE Netz, MAN Energy Solutions, and Vattenfall announced a plan to set up a large-scale power-to-gas project in an industrial park in Brunsbüttel, northern Germany. The facility will produce green hydrogen and synthetic gases (SNG) from electricity generated by nearby solar and wind plants. The aim of the partnership is to establish a unique power-to-gas hub for cross-sectoral decarbonization in northern Germany,
Woodside signs deal with space agency
Woodside Energy and the Australian Space Agency (ASA) have signed a statement of strategic intent and cooperation, which is aimed at promoting technology transfer between the space sector and the oil and gas industry.
The strategic alliance would allow a safer and more efficient management of assets in remote and harsh environments. The announcement was welcomed by industry, science and technology minister Karen Andrews, and looks to also secure Australian jobs of the future in remote operating and automation capabilities.
