Scope
The development of a plan to remove CFC floor sheeting for 3 existing E-House substations in the Sydney Light Rail Network – Asbestos remediation to the flooring was required on several Switchrooms due to imported asbestos product being installed at manufacture.
Problem
EQ-House assisted by provide and completing a remediation plan and schedule to meet the tight time-frame. Rectifications for each site were required to be completed within a 3 week maximum shut down window.
Due to the sensitive nature of the remediation we needed to conduct the remediation work safely, with proper containment and monitoring of Asbestos.
Disconnection and Removal of equipment, Removal of contaminated product, Reinstallation of Flooring and coverings, Reinstallation of Equipment.
Brief History
Our Client was in need to satisfy a major client, who was insisting on the risk being removed from their care. The designated vendor for various reasons was unable to attend the site to make the remediations in the designated time frame and with agreeable terms.
Contaminated product was identified and notified to be within several switchrooms supplied on a clients job. This resulted in the requirement for the affected floor sheeting to be removed from the Switchroom buildings without causing impact on the Local Rail network.
Challenge
All work was carried out on tight schedules so that Rail infrastructure was not impacted and stakeholders both community and government were involved.
Solution
EQH scheduled and co-ordinated the disconnection and removal of switchgear and panels from the room to a secure area, prior to material being moved.
EQH managed both the removal of effected material and the replacement of new Non-asbestos floor sheeting into the building which included vinyl coverings.
